Many People Donated After the Prime Minister's Challenge: Haykak Arshamyan

Days ago, a telethon titled 'Sun and Water' was held as part of the annual fundraising for the All-Armenian Fund. During the 2019 telethon, approximately $9,856,100 was raised.

The funds collected during the telethon will be directed towards projects for providing drinking water and implementing solar energy programs in Artsakh, as well as in three regions of Armenia: Tavush, Lori, and Shirak.

To gain insight into the results of the fund, ArmDaily.am sought the views of the executive director, Haykak Arshamyan. In our conversation, Arshamyan stated that they will present a summary of the outcomes.

When asked if, following the Prime Minister’s challenge to donate, there were people who responded and actually donated, Arshamyan replied, 'Yes, many people from Germany, Belarus, the USA, and many other countries have transferred funds following that call. The transfers are still ongoing, and we will definitely present a final summary number.'

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called on the public to donate 10,000 drams, approximately $20, to the fund during the 'Armenia' telethon. He proposed doing this through a 'challenge': each person, starting with a donation of 10,000 drams, challenges three more individuals, and those three challenge three more, continuing the cycle.
