Let No One Assume That We Passed the Law for Decoration While Beasts Can Still Torture and Kill Animals
The acting police chief, your subordinates do not know the law. This was stated by NA BHK faction MP Naira Zohrabyan on her Facebook page. The full post is below.
“Yesterday, the director of the ‘Dilijan’ National Park publicly shot a dog and proudly gave an interview stating that the dog was his and it was rabid. The police, who arrived following citizens' calls, said that the law criminalizing cruel treatment of animals has not yet come into force and then left.
As the author of the law, I want to inform everyone that the law has been in effect since October 23, and I have just officially requested the acting Chief of Police of Armenia to initiate an investigation against Surik Agajanyan under the characteristics of Article 258, part 2 of the RA Criminal Code, which provides for imprisonment of one to three years.
Let no one assume that we passed the law for decoration while beasts can still torture and kill animals. This will not happen. We will not allow it.
One more thing: Mr. Acting Chief of Police, please instruct a certain agency to provide your subordinates with some training so they know which laws related to their field have come into force.”
