The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, met on December 2 with the Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, who was visiting Armenia on an official trip.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, welcoming Minister Safadi on the occasion of his first visit to Armenia, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan noted with satisfaction: "I welcome you to Armenia and am glad for this opportunity. Relations with Jordan are important for us both politically and economically. Your country has been open to our compatriots, and we are united by a history of living side by side and the experience of working together at the state level. We have a very promising agenda and I am confident that we will move forward on the path of further expansion."
The head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry expressed confidence that this visit of the Jordanian Foreign Minister would open a new page in the history of Armenian-Jordanian friendly relations. In this context, the necessity of conducting consultations between the foreign policy agencies of the two countries and actively enhancing communications and dialogues at various levels was particularly emphasized.
In the context of cooperation prospects, the need to take practical steps in trade, education, creative education, agriculture, and tourism was highlighted, with the formation of appropriate platforms involving direct stakeholders.
The active role of the Armenian community, which stands out for its great activity in Jordanian socio-political life and serves as a connecting link between the two countries, was highly valued by both sides.
During the meeting, the interlocutors also discussed issues on the international and regional agenda. They exchanged views on the political processes ongoing in the Middle East. Minister Mnatsakanyan presented Ayman Safadi with the latest developments regarding the peaceful resolution process of Nagorno-Karabakh, emphasizing Armenia's principled positions and approaches in the peace process.
At the end of the meeting, the heads of the foreign policy departments of Armenia and Jordan held a joint press conference.
On the same day in the morning, the delegation headed by Ayman Safadi visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial and paid tribute to the memory of the Holy Martyrs.
