Tokyo Olympic Stadium Officially Handed Over for Operation
The central stadium for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games has been officially handed over for operation. This was reported by Reuters. The Japanese authorities spent $1.2 billion on the construction of the stadium.
The stadium was built on the site of the stadium that hosted the games in 1964. It will host football and athletics competitions and has a capacity of 68,000 spectators.
The 32nd Summer Olympic Games will be hosted by Tokyo, starting on July 24 and concluding on August 9. Approximately 11,000 athletes from 206 countries will compete in 33 sports. This will be the second time Tokyo has hosted the Olympic Games since 1964.
