Public: Authorities Decide to Eliminate NSS Monopolization
The newspaper "Public" reports that MP and former deputy head of the Traffic Police, Armen Khachatryan, has initiated a legislative proposal to amend the law on "Operational-Intelligence Activities." The current legislation grants the exclusive right to wiretap telephone conversations to the National Security Service (NSS). Khachatryan suggests granting similar authority to the police as well.
The wiretapping in question would occur after a court ruling. Essentially, the authorities have decided to eliminate the NSS's monopoly on this issue.
More details can be found in today’s issue of the newspaper.
