Only Armenia Records Price Drop Among Countries Observed by the Armenian National Statistical Committee: Nikol Pashinyan
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page: “According to the monthly report of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), global food prices have increased by 6 percent in October 2019 compared to October of the previous year. In Armenia, food prices have risen by only 0.1 percent during the same period. This is primarily, if not exclusively, a result of deepening economic competition in the country. We remember very well what used to happen before: when global food prices rose by about 2 percent, prices in Armenia would increase by around 4-5 percent.
Incidentally, in September of this year, compared to December of the previous year, only in Armenia has a price drop been recorded among all the countries observed by the National Statistical Committee. This means that in September of this year, compared to December 2018, inflation was recorded in all these countries, and only in Armenia did prices decrease by 2.1 percent.”
