Government to Increase Funding for Science by 1.351 Billion AMD, Tigran Avinyan Says
The Armenian government is set to increase funding for science by 1.351 billion AMD. This announcement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan on his Facebook page.
“Taking into account recent working discussions with Minister of Education, Science, Sports and Culture Arayik Harutyunyan, the proposals from National Assembly members Mkhtitar Hayrapetyan and Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, as well as requests from the scientific community, the government will increase the funding allocated for science,” Avinyan stated.
“Thus, through the additional involvement of financing from the 2020 budget and the redistribution of funds allocated to the ministry, funding for science will increase by 1.351 billion AMD,” the Deputy Prime Minister added.
He noted that the additional funds will primarily be directed towards artificial intelligence and data science, biotechnology, and robotics.
