New Threshold for Determining Drivers' Sobriety Established

Today, during a meeting of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security, proposed amendments to the legal documents presented by the government concerning the establishment of a point system were discussed. Several changes have been made between the first and second readings, which will be presented to you shortly.

The most significant modification specifically relates to the tightening of regulations regarding driving under the influence of alcohol. Criteria for determining sobriety have been revised. The draft proposes that a driver will be considered not sober if their blood alcohol content is 0.2 grams or if their breath alcohol content is 0.1 milligrams.

Previously, according to the law, a person was deemed to be in a state of not being sober if it was determined during a check that their blood alcohol content exceeded 0.4 grams per liter or their breath alcohol content exceeded 0.2 milligrams per liter.
