Anna Hakobyan Gives Interview to European Renowned Magazine "Diplomatic World"

Anna Hakobyan, the wife of the Prime Minister of Armenia, and chairperson of the boards of trustees of the "My Step" and "City of Smile" charitable foundations, has given an interview to the prestigious European magazine "Diplomatic World." The interview was published in the magazine's 62nd issue.

In the interview, Anna Hakobyan shared the story of her first meeting with her husband, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as well as their love story and the formation of their family. When asked about her source of inspiration, Anna Hakobyan emphasized that she draws inspiration from her husband's work and does not separate her mission from his activities. "We have walked this path together, hand in hand, and I see my mission primarily as supporting him. Because during this entire time, we have gone through many difficult moments together—persecutions, imprisonment, underground activities. And I was sure that during my husband's arrest, my mission was to take care of our children, our family, our newspaper, his parents, so that no one would feel his absence. I have always tried to be strong, so people wouldn’t lose hope and despair in seeing me," said Anna Hakobyan.

Speaking about Armenia as a global center for peace, the Prime Minister's wife noted that after experiencing the Armenian Genocide of 1915, the Armenian people greatly value and appreciate the role of peace in the world. "And today, Armenia plays a very important role not only in promoting and maintaining peace but also in preventing genocides. Because who, if not the Armenian people, has the right to call for the prevention of crimes against humanity?" said Anna Hakobyan.

In this context, she also shared details about her initiated campaign "Women for Peace," outlining the purpose of the initiative. Anna Hakobyan stated that women have a significant role in this matter, as they can raise their voices and fight to ensure that conflicts are resolved solely at the negotiation table and do not take human lives.

During the interview, Anna Hakobyan spoke about the brand of Armenia, emphasizing that Armenia stands out for two crucial features: it is the first Christian country in the world and has the most beautiful and magnificent view of the biblical Mount Ararat. "But I must talk about the Velvet Revolution that took place in 2018 and the 18 post-revolution months. Because during this period, Armenia became known to the world not only as a country with the oldest Christian history but also as a country that carried out a Velvet Revolution, during which there were no signs of violence, no drop of blood was shed," Anna Hakobyan stated, adding that the roots of this solidarity lead back to Christian values.

Anna Hakobyan also discussed the development of information technology in the country as a component of the nation's brand, and touched upon the ethnic minorities living in the country, emphasizing that ethnic minorities in Armenia have never faced any issues and live in harmony with Armenians.

Furthermore, Anna Hakobyan addressed the role of women in the social and political life of the country, highlighting that the current government places great significance on the role of women.
