There is a Prejudiced Thinking That an Official May Be Corrupt Upon Appointment: Arshakyan

Currently, the situation and regulations are such that there is a prejudiced notion that an official may be a corrupt individual upon their appointment. This was stated today at a meeting of the Government of Armenia by the Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Arshakyan.

"The regulations impose such restrictions on the official that at every turn, one needs to ask a lawyer a dozen times whether there are any violations or not, even when making trivial decisions. This is the case when you are convinced that it should be done that way. Should the system of political responsibility not align with this, or should everyone be subjected to the mechanisms of corruption prevention?" Arshakyan said.

In response, Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan noted that efforts should be made to change the public perception of officials.
