«RusHydro» to Sell «Sevan-Hrazdan HPP» to Samvel Karapetyan
The newspaper «Kommersant» reports that «RusHydro» will sell the «Sevan-Hrazdan HPP» to the structures of Samvel Karapetyan's «Tashir» group. According to the source, the price of the cascade could amount to 173 million rubles. The buyer is also required to pay off the debts.
Experts believe that the deal is beneficial for both parties, as «RusHydro» will be freed from debts, while «Tashir» will expand its presence in the country's energy sector.
Sources from «Kommersant» also disclosed that «RusHydro» has agreed to sell 90 percent of the International Energy Company, which owns the «Sevan-Hrazdan» HPP in Armenia, to Samvel Karapetyan's «Tashir» group. The buyer will be the Hrazdan energy company, which owns Armenia's largest thermal power plant with a capacity of 1.11 GW.
«RusHydro» purchased the HPP from Inter RAO in 2011 for 172.9 million rubles, which it received following the division of Russia's RAO UES. After the completion of this transaction, only the 5th block of the Hrazdan thermal power plant will remain in the asset portfolio of Russian companies.
