Kocharian's Detention Does Not Hinder Pashinyan-Putin Relations, Says Peskov

The detention of Armenia's second president Robert Kocharian does not obstruct the relations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia in Bishkek.

“I can tell you one thing: during the last visit, Putin met with Kocharian's wife, Bella Kocharian. They maintain contact. Putin and Kocharian have a friendly relationship,” said the spokesman.

Dmitry Peskov did not comment on the fact of Kocharian's detention. He also noted that a considerable amount of time has passed since the change of power in Armenia, and the hiatus in Armenian-Russian relations has been filled.

Additionally, according to Peskov, Pashinyan often communicates with the Russian president. “Pashinyan and Putin have established a constructive working relationship. These relations are developing excellently, as they should between our two countries,” he stated.
