I Urge Not to Buy Meat from the Streets or Vehicle Trunks Under Any Circumstances
The head of the Armenian Food Safety Inspectorate, Gevorg Avetisyan, urges citizens not to buy meat from the streets, vehicle trunks, or from unsanitary conditions under any circumstances. He shared this message on his Facebook page.
“Recently, we have been receiving numerous photographs documenting the unacceptable street sales of fresh meat. Although the Food Safety Inspectorate does not have the legal grounds to prevent or prohibit such sales, we are ready to assist local governments and law enforcement in addressing this issue,” noted Avetisyan.
He urged, “First and foremost, do not buy meat from the streets or from vehicle trunks that do not have supporting veterinary documents proving its safety. Moreover, immediately report such cases to local authorities and law enforcement agencies, or call the Food Safety Inspectorate hotline at 010 206040. It would be great if you could take photographs and send them to [email protected], indicating where the illegal meat sale is happening, including the address. You can also send them to the official Facebook page of the Food Safety Inspectorate at https://www.facebook.com/snund.am/,” he added.
