Ashot Karapetyan Was a Witness in March 1 Case: Special Investigation Service

Former Yerevan police chief Ashot Karapetyan, who died in an explosion in Russia this morning, was a witness in the March 1 case, reports Haikakan Zhamanak.

According to the same sources, he was questioned in this capacity by the Special Investigative Service (SIS).

The information regarding his witness status was confirmed in our conversation with the SIS, but no further details were provided.

During the events of March 1, 2008, Ashot Karapetyan held the position of head of the Soviet Division of the Yerevan city police.

He was dismissed from the position of Yerevan police chief in 2016 following clashes in the Saritagh district.
