When Will Gevorg Kostanyan Return to Armenia?
According to the ‘Joqovurd’ newspaper, while the Special Investigation Service informs the public that a decision has been made to involve former Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan as a suspect, he has been given 48 hours to present himself. We have learned that Kostanyan is currently participating in an international conference. Specifically, according to the newspaper's sources, he is attending the 20th International Conference organized by the Moscow State Law University and the Law Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University, and he is the only representative from Armenia at this conference, having received an invitation from the professors of these institutions.
According to our information, the conference is scheduled to take place from November 26 to 29. Additionally, Kostanyan has been teaching at the University of the Prosecutor General of Russia in Moscow since May of this year. He is publicly referred to in Armenia as a criminal. But what is the basis of his accusation? According to the charges, he allegedly instructed former Police Chief Alik Sargsyan regarding the investigation of the events of March 1, 2008. Although both Alik Sargsyan and Kostanyan deny that such instructions were ever given, the charges have been filed, and Kostanyan is required to present himself to the SIS. The 48-hour countdown began on November 25.
