Vanechyan is not in the weight category for me to debate with him. David Sanasaryan

“I have my evidence, the time will come, I will speak. I don't have a debate with him at all; he is not in the weight category for me to engage in a debate with him. I have warned him not to interfere, not to make a mistake, but I do not have a debate with him,” stated the suspended head of the NSS, David Sanasaryan, in response to the question about having previously said months ago that he would speak to Arthur Vanechyan.

Sanasaryan indicated that he has decided not to speak at this stage: “I have decided not to respond at this stage, and I don’t think I should engage at that level in a debate over whether what is said is true or false. I see what kind of discussions are taking place in the field; I do not want to be a participant in that mudslinging. There are more important issues in our country than throwing mud at each other and serving a stagnant environment.”

When asked if he believes that the criminal prosecution against him has been directed by Arthur Vanechyan, Sanasaryan replied, “I have not expressed an opinion to say whether it is right or wrong, but I have information that has become a conviction, and I have said the time will come, and we will talk. If at any point I feel that not speaking is not an alternative, I will speak. At this moment, there is no need for that.”

Commenting on the motion submitted to the court, David Sanasaryan said, “We are showing what problems exist; whether the court accepts it or not is another matter. We also need to decide whether we will appeal this court decision or not, but we are in our process, presenting a constitutional issue to the public, including lawyers and constitutionalists, and I hope this will also become a legal dispute.”

To the question about his position on the statement made by the defense of accused Samvel Adyan, suggesting that it is possible to appeal to the Constitutional Court without suspending the proceedings, David Sanasaryan responded, “If the law provides such an opportunity, we see no problem; the sooner it is investigated, the better. We consider it justified that the NCC's investigative body has a constitutional issue. This should have not been established by a decision of the Prime Minister but stipulated by law, as with other investigative bodies.”
