Turkey's National Security Council Discusses Armenian Genocide
On November 26, a meeting of Turkey's National Security Council was held under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. At the end of the four-hour session, a statement was issued summarizing the results, which revealed that the topic of recognitions of the Armenian Genocide by various legislative bodies of different countries was also discussed, reports ermenihaber.am.
The statement regarding the genocide specifically condemned “the resolutions passed about the events of 1915, which are based on historically and legally unfounded, baseless claims.” It emphasized that “the time has come for the international community to reveal the truth.”
Additionally, the meeting addressed issues related to Turkey's “Operation Peace Spring” in northern Syria and the establishment of a security zone. It was noted that the operation, aimed at eliminating terrorists and creating suitable conditions for the return of displaced Syrians, will continue until it achieves its objectives.
