I Gave the Former Armenian Authorities a Chance: Aliyev Expresses Discontent
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has commented on the installation of a monument dedicated to Armenian military-political figure Garegin Nzhdeh in Yerevan. Speaking at the centenary of Baku State University, Aliyev asserted that the monument in the center of Yerevan should be dismantled. Moreover, the Azerbaijani leader continued to emphasize that the monument was erected during the tenure of former Armenian authorities.
“I gave the former Armenian authorities a chance. In my speech, I stressed that this monument was erected by the previous government. If the current government considers itself democratic, it should dismantle this monument,” he stated.
Aliyev also expressed discontent with the fact that Armenia maintains good relations with Muslim countries. He mentioned that during meetings with leaders of Muslim nations, he urges them “not to embrace Armenia.”
