Next Year, Nearly Half of Yerevan's Minibuses Will Be Taken Out of Service
The Mayor of Yerevan, Hayk Marutyan, spoke with journalists today regarding public transportation. He informed that there is an average of 1,330 minibuses operating daily, of which 900-950 should take to the streets each day. “Every day, around 900-950 of them are on the road. ‘Yerevantrans’ even reported to me that approximately 930 are operating daily. Next year, about 400-450 minibuses will complete their 15-year service life, and by law, they will not have the right to serve our citizens. Almost half of them will, in any case, be taken out of service, while private operators do not wish to make new investments, as it is not profitable for them,” he stated.
