Today the Legal Community Demonstrated Exceptional Unity: Ruben Melikyan on NSS Actions

Ruben Melikyan, co-founder of the legal NGO 'Legal Path,' made a post on his Facebook page regarding the exceptional unity displayed by the legal community in response to the confiscation of lawyer Hovhannes Chamsaryan’s computers.

The post reads:

“Today the legal community demonstrated exceptional unity to protect one of the most important achievements of our state and community—the inviolability of attorney-client privilege. If attorney-client privilege is not upheld, there fundamentally cannot be the necessary trust from clients towards their attorney. Clients can be EVERYONE—yesterday’s, today’s, and tomorrow’s rulers, the righteous and the wrongdoer, the law enforcement officer, the ‘legal defender,’ and the violator. Everyone. Therefore, this is not only an issue for lawyers but also for everyone else.”

It should be noted that the press service of the Bar Association reported that a NSS investigator wants to confiscate two computers from the law office of lawyer Hovhannes Chamsaryan. Representatives of the Bar Association, along with other lawyers, were present at the attorney's office and did not allow the confiscation of the computers.
