Russian Court Imprisons ‘Alraghaci Lyov’ for 40 Days; Extradition to Armenia Under Consideration

The court of the Russian Federation has ordered the imprisonment of Levon Sargsyan (known as Alraghaci Lyovik) for 40 days. In this regard, Gor Abrahamyan, an advisor to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, wrote on his Facebook page: "Given the public interest, I inform you that the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has promptly sent a request for the extradition of Levon Sargsyan, who was wanted and recently discovered and arrested in Russia, to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation along with a necessary package of documents."

As a result of the collaboration between the Prosecutor's Offices of Armenia and Russia, the court in Russia accepted the request of the Russian Prosecutor's Office to detain Levon Sargsyan for 40 days pending the discussions regarding his extradition.

Earlier, NEW.am reported that as a result of large-scale operational-search activities conducted by the Main Department of Criminal Investigation of the Police of Armenia, the representative office of the Police of Armenia in Russia, and relevant divisions of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Levon Hrachya Sargsyan, a 51-year-old resident of Yerevan, was discovered and arrested on November 21 in Zelenograd, Moscow region.

He had been wanted since October 1, 2018, under the 3rd part of Article 175 and the 2nd part of Article 223 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. It is noteworthy that he is a former member of the National Assembly, having served from 1999 to 2007. He is known by the nickname Alraghaci Lyovik.
