Makunts Excludes the Possibility That Vanezyan Knew Anything and Didn't Take Action
Comments regarding the "Soros" foundation were made even during Arthur Vanezyan's tenure as the Director of the National Security Service. This was stated today by Lilit Makunts, the leader of the ruling faction "My Step," during a conversation with journalists, responding to the comments made by former NSS director Vanezyan regarding the "Open Society Foundations."
The ruling faction leader specifically stated that she excludes the possibility that Vanezyan and the NSS would not have taken necessary measures in response to any revealing information that posed a threat. "I am confident that if Mr. Vanezyan had any connection to an organization threatening national security, he would have immediately taken all necessary steps. If he did not resort to such measures, we must be confident that he saw no such danger. Moreover, we are talking about an individual, but institutions are not contingent upon individuals. I am sure Mr. Vanezyan's stance is based on the reports and analyses he received," said Makunts.
She also noted that Vanezyan's statements actually raise questions and expressed hope that the former NSS director himself would provide clarification on these issues.
Recall that on November 21, in an interview with 168.am, former NSS director Arthur Vanezyan expressed the opinion that the activities of the "Soros" office pose dangers for the Republic of Armenia.
