BREAKING. Gevorg Kostanyan Involved as Defendant in March 1 Case
Former deputy of the National Assembly from the Republican Party and former Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan has been involved as a defendant in the March 1 case. This was stated by Marina Ohanyan, the press secretary of the Special Investigation Service, in response to an inquiry from 'Haykakan Zhamanak'.
"In accordance with Part 1 of Article 203 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, he has been invited to appear before the investigating authority within 48 hours to face charges," Ohanyan added. However, the SIS has not provided further details.
On September 26, the SIS announced that Kostanyan had been summoned to the Special Investigation Service regarding the March 1 case, to which he responded that he was abroad and would return within 15 to 20 days. The day before this, the Special Investigation Service released a statement about bringing charges against former police chief Alik Sargsyan, which also touched upon the names of Kostanyan and former deputy police chief Gevorg Mheryan.
