150th Anniversary of Alexander Spendiarian and 100th Anniversary of Henri Verneuil Recognized by UNESCO

On November 25, during the 40th session of UNESCO's General Conference taking place in Paris, a decision was made to include the 150th anniversary of composer Alexander Spendiarian and the 100th anniversary of film director Henri Verneuil in UNESCO's calendar of Famous People and Important Events for the years 2020-2021. This information was provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

The nominations from Armenia were submitted with the support of partner countries. The nomination for the 150th anniversary of composer Alexander Spendiarian, supported by Iran, Russia, and Georgia, along with the nomination for the 100th anniversary of director Henri Verneuil, supported by France and Italy, received approval from the member states of the organization.

Since 1998, a total of 25 commemorative events presented by Armenia have been included in UNESCO's calendar of Famous People and Important Events, including the two aforementioned anniversaries.
