I Have Personally Been to the Draxhtik School: We Have Inherited Hundreds of Such Schools from Our Predecessors – Araik Harutyunyan

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Araik Harutyunyan, responded today to the reports circulating about the Draxhtik school.

Dear compatriots, horrible photos of the condition of the Draxhtik school are being shared on Facebook at this hour. I am aware of this issue; I have personally been to that school. We have inherited hundreds of such schools from our predecessors. This is not a problem of one million, two million, twenty million, or even one hundred million drams. To reconstruct and renovate schools, we need hundreds of millions of dollars.

You know that in the past year and a half, renovations and reconstructions have started in dozens of schools, and soon, we will present comprehensive data as a summary of the year. Only next year, our capital expenditures have increased fourfold in the budget.

We are determined to reconstruct and renovate all the schools in turn. We just need time.

Today, I spoke with the governor of the region, Gnel Sanosyan. The school is under regional authority. The governor informed that this year, through various means, they have replaced windows. Currently, other solutions are being provided, and work is underway to heat the school using gas.
