VIDEO: I am Familiar with Pashinyan's Views on 1996, Says Prime Minister's Spokesperson

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's spokesperson Vladimir Karapetyan responded today to a potential threat posed to the Prime Minister by an individual who appeared as a blogger at the meeting with the Armenian community.

The Azerbaijani blogger was reportedly at a "considerable distance" from the Prime Minister. "I did not notice any danger at that moment when the Q&A session was taking place. I believe everything was under control," said Karapetyan.

Journalists raised questions about the section of Pashinyan's speech yesterday in which the Prime Minister talked about the falsification of all elections since 1996.

Vladimir Karapetyan, who was part of former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan's political team in 2008, responded that he was familiar with the content of the Prime Minister's speech. Pashinyan stated that all elections since 1996 have been rigged, and the ruling authorities have maintained their positions. Following the 1996 elections, which were rejected by the opposition, Levon Ter-Petrosyan held onto power.

The former diplomat mentioned that he was not a member of the Armenian National Movement but had worked with Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Regarding his views on the events of 1996, Karapetyan declined to elaborate, stating that there are legal, including Constitutional Court decisions, regarding those events.
