Video: "A Thief Should Sit in Prison" - Discussions on Criminal Subculture Legislation

The Armenian Parliament is discussing the package of bills aimed at making amendments and additions to the RA Criminal Code, regarding initial approval. According to the Minister of Justice, it is proposed to subject individuals to criminal liability for creating, leading, participating in, engaging in, and maintaining a criminal subculture to gain or retain a higher status within the criminal hierarchy.

“Who is going to award the ranks? There have been statements that those who oppose the project are supporting it, but no, a criminal must be punished, and a person should be punished for their actions,” said Gevorg Petrosyan from the Prosperous Armenia Party.

“I want to start my speech with a quote from a famous film: ‘A thief should sit in prison.’ No one and nothing can resolve issues outside the laws of the state. This phenomenon dates back to Soviet times,” Andranik Kocharyan from the My Step Alliance stated during the discussion.
