Three Prison Officers Monitored Fugitive Inmate, Have Been Questioned
Today, a criminal case has been initiated regarding the escape of inmate Arayik Sargsyan from "Erebuni" Medical Center. This information was provided by the Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the RA Investigative Committee, Naira Harutyunyan, in response to a question from HJ.
The criminal case has been opened under Article 355 of the RA Criminal Code (Escape of a detained or convicted person related to imprisonment) and Article 315 (Official Negligence). According to our information, three prison officers were monitoring the inmate at the hospital, and they have already been questioned within the framework of the criminal case. It is still unclear how it was possible for the inmate's escape to go unnoticed by the guards.
Recall that the incident occurred around 05:00. Arayik Sargsyan, born in 1988, was undergoing treatment at "Erebuni" Medical Center when he escaped from the hospital room. The inmate from "Nubarashen" Penitentiary, who has been convicted seven times previously, was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months under Article 177, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code (theft).
The prison’s press service has provided a description of Sargsyan: approximately 170 cm tall, athletic build, brown eyes, wide forehead, black hair, thick lips, wide and turned nose, with a bandaged injury on the left side of his neck. He was last seen wearing a black blouse, black sportswear, and slippers.
Authorities are asking anyone who sees him or has information regarding his whereabouts to call 1-02 or 010-44-29-04 or to report to the nearest police station. Confidentiality of individuals providing information is guaranteed.
