Charges Filed Against Two Yerevan Residents for Counterfeiting and Distributing Fake Dollars
The investigation into the case of counterfeiting, storing, and distributing fake banknotes has been completed at the Avan and Nor Nork investigation departments of the Yerevan city investigative office of the RA Investigative Committee. Charges have been filed against two residents of Yerevan.
According to the information provided by the Investigative Committee, during the investigation, it was established that two residents of Yerevan, aged 31 and 25, had obtained and kept a total of sixteen fake banknotes worth "100" US dollars each, with the intent to distribute them. They acquired these counterfeit bills from an unknown person and, in early February 2019, attempted to exchange them in various branches of a bank operating in Yerevan.
Based on a sufficient combination of evidence, both men have been charged under Article 202, Part 2, Point 2, and Article 34-202, Part 2, Point 2 of the RA Criminal Code. The court has chosen to impose detention as a preventive measure, which was later replaced with bail.
The completion of the investigation has been announced, and the criminal case, along with the indictment conclusion, has been sent to court.
