21-Year-Old Inmate Dies at Armavir Penitentiary

A 21-year-old inmate has been found dead at the Armavir Penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia. The incident occurred on November 16 at around 22:50, where the body of Sargis Hakobi Abelyan, born on October 7, 1998, was discovered hanging from a second-floor bed by a sports uniform strap.

Abelyan was detained on charges under Article 175 (parts 2(1), 3, 4) and Article 235 (part 1) of the Armenian Criminal Code.

To clarify the circumstances of the case, a criminal investigation has been initiated by the Armavir regional investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
