VIDEO: Prime Minister Participates in State Budget Draft Discussion in Parliament
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is participating in discussions regarding the draft state budget for 2020 in the National Assembly. He addressed two critical questions:
- Is the 2020 budget draft revolutionary?
- When will people feel changes in their lives?
“During the 2018 revolution, when I was not yet the Prime Minister, I publicly stated that within 1-2 years, the state budget of Armenia could or should increase by 30-35 percent. This was one of the slogans or promises of the revolution. The revenue part of the 2020 state budget exceeds the revenue part of 2018 by 27.4 percent. If we also add the statistics from the budget surplus in 2018, which has already exceeded 62 billion, then the growth of the budget amounts to 33 percent. If we additionally consider the budget losses we have incurred as a result of our decisions, including changes in the tax code and the voluntary refusal of the mandatory funded pension system, our growth already stands at 35 percent.
