Charges Against 40-Year-Old Lorri Local for Illegal Arms and Drug Possession

The investigation department of the Lori regional investigation office in Armenia has completed the preliminary investigation of a multi-episode criminal case involving theft, illegal acquisition and storage of military ammunition, illegal arms production, and the illegal trafficking of narcotic substances with intent not to sell. Charges have been filed against a 40-year-old resident of the Lori region.

Through a comprehensive investigation of the criminal case, several circumstances have been clarified. The individual, born in 1979, is accused of illegally entering the territory of the "Akhbala LLC" company’s "Mechanical Production" workshop by tearing off the polyethylene film of the window at approximately 21:30 on March 30, 2019, with direct intent to commit theft. He allegedly secretly stole a copper welding cable belonging to the company.

The investigative body reported that, as a result of extensive investigative and procedural actions, as well as operational and intelligence measures, it was revealed that the same individual had committed other crimes as well. In particular, factual data has been obtained indicating that in November 2015, with direct intent to commit theft, he again illegally entered the same workshop of "Akhbala LLC" by climbing over a fence and secretly stole two batteries for an elevator and an air compressor starter belonging to the company.

Another theft occurred at the end of March 2019, when the 40-year-old man, taking advantage of an unlocked door to a cattle barn, illegally entered an unused cattle barn owned by "Manes-Valex LLC" and secretly stole 11 small and one large electrical switches.

Investigators also obtained data on the resident of Lori hoarding military ammunition, consisting of 16 pieces of 7.62 mm caliber rifled combat and one piece of 5.6 mm caliber rimfire hunting ammunition cartridges illegally acquired and stored in his apartment. Additionally, it was found that the same individual illegally manufactured and kept in his apartment a handmade rifle adapted for firing 5.6 mm caliber rimfire cartridges during the summer of 2015.

During the investigation, it was also revealed that the 40-year-old resident of Lori illegally manufactured and kept significant amounts of narcotics, totaling 10.42 grams of marijuana, for personal use without intent to sell.

The cartridges, the weapon, and the drugs were discovered and seized during legally sanctioned searches of the apartments. Based on a sufficient combination of evidence, the 40-year-old man has been charged under Article 177, Part 2, Clause 3 (three episodes), Article 235, Part 1, Article 236, Part 1, and Article 268, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. A signature was chosen as a preventive measure to ensure his appearance in court.

The conclusion of the investigation has been announced, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
