Armenian Rescue Team Ready to Deploy to Iran at Any Time: Ministry of Emergency Situations
On November 8, a regular weekly operational meeting of the rescue service was held at the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia, chaired by the service director, Major General Vrezh Gabrielyan. This information was reported by the press office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Heads of various divisions of the Armenian Rescue Service, as well as the directors of the Yerevan city and regional rescue departments, reported on current work and existing issues to the director of the rescue service.
Karen Atoyan, the director of the Disaster Medicine Center, informed that the health condition of Edgar Grigoryan, who was injured during the fire suppression in the Bazum mountain range, is relatively better and there is clear positive dynamics.
Colonel Tigran Petrosyan, head of the rescue forces department, reported that following the earthquake recorded in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Armenian urban search and rescue team, which meets international INSARAG standards, has reached a heightened state of readiness. All issues related to technical and material support have been resolved, and if necessary, the Armenian rescue team is ready to deploy to Iran at any moment.
Following this, the director of the rescue service addressed several issues and provided specific directives. General Gabrielyan instructed to check the availability of radio communication in all regional divisions and report back to him. He also ordered monitoring compliance with the wearing of combat uniforms by personnel, as well as adherence to regulations during the transition to the winter season.
The director of the rescue service instructed the relevant divisions to keep the process of acquiring explosive devices, which are necessary for conducting preventive rockfalls, under close observation.
The head of the rescue forces department was tasked with properly organizing a major special tactical exercise to be held at the Sports and Concert Complex, during which a helicopter will also be used.
Additionally, discussions were held regarding the construction of a building for the special water rescue team in Sevan city, the expansion of the functions of the National Crisis Management Center, as well as a number of issues related to the impending structural changes in the rescue service.
General-Major Gabrielyan also issued several directives related to discipline and the organization of service.
