Potential Cost Reductions for 'HuZank and Zang' Performance: What Expenses Were Incurred

At the metro station "Republic Square," the costs for the technical rental of the performance "HuZank and Zang" held on November 2 were primarily 330,000 drams, which could have been almost halved, bringing the total to a maximum of 150,000 drams.

According to the budget estimate for the performance, the costs for technical rentals totaled 330,000 drams, including 280,000 drams for sound equipment consisting of six speakers and two microphones, as well as one soundboard for one day, and 50,000 drams for one day of projector rental.

Tert.am inquired with a randomly selected organizing company about the maximum amount that would be charged for the equipment mentioned. According to "Holiday Events," which specializes in organizing events, the rental costs would come to 125,000 drams: the daily rental for a single speaker is 10,000 drams, and for six speakers, it totals to 60,000 drams. The company offers a 3300 lumen projector for one day at 20,000 drams, while a 6000 lumen projector would cost approximately 35,000 drams. The rental for two microphones for one day is estimated to cost 20,000 drams, and the soundboard would require a payment of 25,000 drams for one day.

At "Prokat.am," there is not much price variation. Renting a 3000 lumen projector for one day would cost 10,000 drams, with the 6000 lumen projector used in the performance costing approximately 20,000 drams for a single day, according to this organization. A pair of speakers is available for rent at 25,000 drams for one day, while renting six speakers would cost 75,000 drams. The rental of two microphones for one day is priced at 14,000 drams. Notably, "Prokat.am" does not offer soundboards for rent.

Hasmik Khachunts, a member of the Yerevan City Council and a participant in the performance, noted that she learned only two weeks prior about the grant received from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MESCS) for the performance. "When I found out about the grant, I did not consider it ethically appropriate to inquire about the amount of money and delve into the expenses since I was just a participant," Khachunts stated, adding that those participating in the performance were not compensated for their involvement.

It is worth mentioning that the MESCS allocated 2.7 million drams for the 'HuZank and Zang' performance held at the metro station "Republic Square" on November 2.
