Hunt Issued for Anahit Farmanyan
A hunt has been issued for Anahit Farmanyan. This was announced by the Special Investigative Service.
The statement reads: "Emphasizing the public's right to receive impartial and comprehensive information, and aiming to protect the public from expected attempts by relatives of Anahit Farmanyan, who is accused in a criminal case being investigated by the Special Investigative Service of Armenia, to distort the objective course of the investigation and possible unfounded speculations, we find it necessary to disclose the following. Anahit Farmanyan, who has been involved as an accused person for committing particularly large-scale theft under Clause 1 of Part 3 of Article 178 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, has evaded appearing before the investigating authority during the pre-trial investigation and has not provided any valid reasons for her failure to appear. Moreover, her personal guarantors, MPs Edmon Marukyan and Naira Zohrabyan, have stated that they have no information regarding Anahit Farmanyan's whereabouts and cannot ensure her appearance before the Special Investigative Service.
In light of these circumstances, on October 31, 2019, a hunt was issued for Anahit Farmanyan. On the same day, the personal guarantee chosen as a preventive measure for A. Farmanyan was revoked, and on November 1, 2019, a petition was submitted by the investigator of the Special Investigative Service to the court to select detention as a preventive measure for A. Farmanyan. The pre-trial investigation continues.
