Number of Scholarship Recipients to Increase by 900: Araik Harutyunyan
In 2020, the number of scholarship recipients will increase by 900. This was stated by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Araik Harutyunyan, during the discussion of the draft state budget for 2020 in the National Assembly.
"Of the 179.5 billion drams allocated in the state budget, funds will be allocated for the renovation of colleges, and 8 agricultural colleges will undergo renovations. Additionally, 4 museums will be restored compared to 1 museum in 2018. The number of beneficiaries of the program 'Affordable Housing for Young Families' will increase by 1200," said the minister.
He also mentioned that a new program called 'Your Science in School' is planned to be implemented for students in 2020. According to the minister, this will be a grant program where well-known scientists will receive grants and visit schools to present their work.
Harutyunyan emphasized that there is a significant interest in science within schools.
It is noteworthy that today the Minister of Finance, Atom Janjughazyan, announced that slightly more than 145 billion drams will be allocated to the education sector, which is 20 billion drams more than the amount allocated in 2019. The amount allocated for science will also remain at 12.6 billion drams compared to 2018.
