New Criminal Case Launched Against David Sanasaryan
The conclusion of the forensic medical examination is ready. The child sustained moderate injuries due to an accident.
A criminal case has been initiated by the police investigator under Article 242 of the Armenian Criminal Code (Violation of requirements aimed at ensuring road traffic safety or violation of rules for road traffic or operation of vehicles) against David Sanasaryan, the suspended head of the Republic of Armenia's State Control Service, for the incident involving a 9-year-old child.
This was reported by lawyer Tigran Atanesyan, who represents the interests of the victim, on his Facebook page.
The lawyer noted that, according to the forensic medical examination conclusion, the child sustained moderate injuries due to the accident.
It is reminded that on October 14, various media outlets reported that Sanasaryan had run over 9-year-old A. Ghévondyan on September 12, near the archway (corridor) of the building located at 4 Kievan Street. After hitting the child, Sanasaryan did not take any action.
A passerby called A. Ghé's mother, who then took the child to the “Armenia” Republican Medical Center. Upon learning that the child was taken to the medical center, Sanasaryan went there and arranged with doctor Arsen Gevorgyan to register the incident not as an accident but as injuries sustained while playing in the yard.
Sanasaryan had stated on his page that he was being blamed: a child jumped off a rock, hit a car, and fell, after which he accompanied the child and the mother to the medical center. They examined the child and said there were no issues. Later, the woman called again and stated that additional medical examination was needed, while demanding 300,000 drams on the spot, threatening that if not given, she would inform the media that Sanasaryan had run over her child.
It is also reminded that the head of the procurement oversight department of the State Control Service, Samvel Adyan, and another employee specializing in medical equipment, Gevorg Khachatryan, were arrested on February 26 in connection with a criminal case initiated on allegations of interference in the announced competitions for hemodialysis supplies by medical institutions.
In connection with the criminal case under investigation by the NSS, David Sanasaryan has also been charged under Part 1 of Article 308 of the Armenian Criminal Code (Abuse of official authority). A preventive measure was taken against him, requiring him to sign not to leave the country. His official duties were temporarily suspended.
Sanasaryan described the allegations raised by the NSS as fabricated, declaring that he is ready to cut off his hand if a video is published showing him accepting a bribe. Sanasaryan's defenders have applied to the prosecutor's office to terminate the criminal prosecution against him.
