Marijuana Thrown from Vehicle Near Kosh Penitentiary

The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia has reported that on October 19, at approximately 00:15, officers from the Aragatson regional department of the Armenian Police, in collaboration with the traffic police, acted on operational information received from the Kosh penitentiary regarding suspicions of drug possession and use.

They stopped a vehicle belonging to citizen M.K. on the Yerevan-Gyumri highway. During this operation, passenger D.G. threw a package out of the car window, which contained a substance resembling marijuana weighing 0.82 grams.

On the same day, at around 19:20, staff from the Artik penitentiary noticed that a vehicle traveling on the Artik-Alagyaz road slowed down and a suspicious object was thrown from it into residential territory. Upon inspecting the area, the staff discovered a polyethylene package attached to a shining object, which contained a white, powdery substance resembling methamphetamine, weighing 0.50 grams.

Preparatory materials are currently being compiled regarding the aforementioned incidents. The substances found have been sent for forensic chemical examination.
