Charges Filed Against Former Principal for Embezzlement at Local School

The Investigation Committee of Armenia has reported that as a result of necessary investigative and procedural actions conducted by the Charentsavan investigative division of the Kotayk region, several circumstances have been uncovered regarding embezzlement by the former principal of the "Charentsavan Saint Vazgen I Secondary School No. 3." The former principal has been formally charged.

The investigation revealed that from 2005 to 2018, the former principal of the school, while occupying the position of director, engaged in illegal activities between July 1, 2011, and September 1, 2015, during which time he regularly issued orders for numerous individuals who did not actually attend work, without any intent to employ them. He also crafted and approved false documents that served as official records, embezzling a significant amount of 2,295,546 Armenian drams from the state budget.

Based on the gathered evidence, the former principal has been charged under Article 179, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 3, and Article 314, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. A preventive measure in the form of a signature not to leave has been chosen for him. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
