North Cyprus Leader Receives Death Threats for Condemning Turkey
The President of the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Mustafa Akıncı, has stirred significant controversy with his reaction to Turkey's "Operation Peace Spring," which was launched and temporarily halted in Syria, according to ermenihaber.am.
In his statement, Akıncı remarked that the military operation initiated by Turkey was resulting in "not water flowing, but blood." This declaration drew severe condemnation from several high-ranking officials in Turkey.
Following the backlash, it has been reported that Akıncı received threatening letters containing death threats and insults due to his statement. The presidential office of the self-declared country has forwarded the names of the letter's authors to the police and the prosecutor's office.
