Airstrikes Resume in Syria
The Turkish armed forces have resumed attacks on the city of Ras al-Ain in Syria today, despite a temporary ceasefire agreement reached with the United States.
Reports indicate that shelling and clashes have restarted in the city, with gunfire heard and smoke seen rising in several neighborhoods. In Turkey's Van province, there has also been gunfire exchanged between Kurdish militants and Turkish soldiers. As a result of the exchange of fire, one Turkish serviceman was killed and two others were wounded. Turkish authorities have yet to comment on this information.
Just the day before, the U.S. and Turkey had reached an agreement in Ankara to halt Turkish operations in northern Syria, with Turkey agreeing to stop fire for 120 hours.
