Court Rejects Ioannisyan's Appeal Against Not Initiating Criminal Case Against Vanetsyan
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Karen Farhoyan, rejected the appeal filed by Daniel Ioannisyan, coordinator of the 'Civil Society Development' foundation, against former head of the National Security Service Arthur Vanetsyan, citing the appeal as unfounded.
A report of a crime had been submitted to the Special Investigative Service (SIS) regarding Arthur Vanetsyan. The SIS did not initiate a criminal case, and the decision of the SIS was being contested in court. At that time, Arthur Vanetsyan was serving as the director of the NSS.
The basis of the appeal by Daniel Ioannisyan and Arthur Sakunts, head of the Vanadzor office of the Helsinki Civil Assembly, was a post by Garegin Miskaryan, a member of the 'Citizen's Decision' party, which stated that Arthur Vanetsyan's family is involved in the flower business. Following this post, the citizen received a notice from the NSS demanding that he retract the information mentioned in his post.
