76% of Respondents Welcome Turkey's Military Operation in Syria

The Areda Survey research center conducted a social survey in Turkey to determine public opinion regarding the Turkish military operation dubbed 'Peace Spring' in northeastern Syria. A total of 2,160 citizens participated in the survey, with 76% expressing support for Turkey's military actions in Syria.

According to the survey, 77.2% of participants are confident that Turkey will succeed in this operation, while 46.5% believe that Turkey has actually delayed its incursion into Syria. Interestingly, 73.3% of them characterized the military operation not as 'war' but as a 'counter-terrorism' effort.

Moreover, 74.5% are convinced that the 'Peace Spring' military operation will enhance Turkey's internal security. In terms of targets, 67.9% believe the operation focuses on the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), while 20.3% think it is aimed at the United States.

When asked if they would participate in this military operation if necessary, 77.8% responded positively, while 22.2% said no, according to ermenihaber.am.

It is important to note that individuals who criticize the military operations have faced criminal prosecution. In a crackdown, 839 users who criticized the operation on social media were identified, including 62 from Germany, England, and France. Turkish police have detained 186 citizens under allegations of 'conducting black propaganda and spreading hatred among the people.' Among those apprehended, 24 were arrested, while 78 were released. Investigations are ongoing for the remaining suspects.
