Video: Protesters Attacked During Rally Near Turkish Embassy in Kyiv
Clashes occurred near the Turkish embassy in Kyiv during a protest against Turkey's military actions in Syria, according to reports from hromadske.ua.
One of the organizers of the protest, Natalya Lunyon, informed the media that several dozen protesters had gathered in front of the embassy to denounce Turkey’s military operation in Syria and the "genocide of Kurds."
“We demand that Turkey cease its invasion of northern Syria. We demand that Turkey stop the war it claims to be fighting against terrorists. We demand an end to the extermination of Kurds,” Lunyon stated.
During the rally, several individuals emerged from the embassy grounds and attacked the protesters, tearing up their posters. One of the attackers struck a protester and then fled back into the embassy area. It remains unclear whether these individuals were representatives of the embassy or simply present in the embassy vicinity.
Lunyon also noted that two police officers were present during the protest, but for unknown reasons, they allowed the assailants to return to the embassy grounds.
It is worth recalling that on October 9, Turkey announced the start of its military operation in Syria, which has already targeted the cities of Tal Abyad, Ras al-Ayn, and other locations. The goal is to "clear the area of YPG terrorists," create a security zone, and settle 3-4 million Syrian refugees there.
