Direct: Nikol Pashinyan Meets with the President of Turkmenistan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's working visit to Turkmenistan has begun.

On the morning of October 11, Nikol Pashinyan met with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov in Ashgabat, as reported by the Government's press service.

The President of Turkmenistan welcomed the Prime Minister of Armenia and emphasized the importance of his visit in the context of discussing opportunities for deepening bilateral and multilateral relations.

“Dear Nikol Vova, allow me to welcome you to Turkmenistan and thank you for accepting our invitation to participate in the CIS summit. I believe we have a good opportunity to discuss the issues of our further cooperation for the benefit of our people's well-being,” said the President of Turkmenistan.

Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov expressed satisfaction with the progress of Armenian-Turkmen relations and noted that Turkmenistan is interested in mutually beneficial cooperation and expanding ties in various sectors with Armenia.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed his happiness to visit Turkmenistan and the opportunity to exchange views on the progress and development of Armenian-Turkmen cooperation.

“Dear Gurbanguly Myalikguliyevich, I would like to thank you for the invitation to visit Turkmenistan and the warm reception. It is pleasant to be in Ashgabat. This is my first visit to Turkmenistan, where we have the opportunity to discuss not only the multilateral agenda but also issues related to our bilateral cooperation. I am confident that we will succeed in discussing all topics of mutual interest,” said Nikol Pashinyan.

The Prime Minister of Armenia noted that Turkmenistan is one of Armenia's important partners in Central Asia, and that our country has effective and constructive relations with it. He emphasized the need to actively enhance economic cooperation in line with high-level political dialogue.

The Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Turkmenistan discussed the agenda of cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats, the activation of economic ties and trade, and the realization of existing potential in various sectors. Prospects for cooperation in the hydrocarbons sector were also discussed.

The interlocutors agreed that the friendship between the two peoples is an important foundation and potential for strengthening Armenia-Turkmenistan relations and expressed mutual readiness to promote joint beneficial programs and initiatives as much as possible.

The parties exchanged ideas on the importance of the activities of the Council of CIS leaders, the development of cooperation within the CIS framework, and other matters.
