US Senate Proposes Sanctions Against Erdoğan and Turkish Ministers
The United States should impose individual sanctions on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan due to the initiation of military operations in Syria. This proposal was shared by Republican Senate member Lindsey Graham on Twitter. He has received support for this initiative from Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen.
In addition to Erdoğan, the senators are proposing sanctions against the Vice President of Turkey and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Finance, Treasury, and Trade, as well as Energy.
The proposed legislation includes measures such as freezing the assets of these individuals within the United States, implementing visa restrictions against the Turkish leadership, and banning the sale of American weaponry to the Turkish military, among other actions.
