VIDEO: Nearly 7 Million Dram Fraud Uncovered in Lori Province

The Main Department for the Fight Against Organized Crime of the Police, together with the Lori Provincial Department and the criminal investigators of the Spitak division, has revealed large-scale frauds in Spitak based on operational information obtained.

As a result of extensive operational-investigative measures, according to preliminary data gathered during the investigation, it has been established that the management of a limited liability company providing waste management, sanitation, landscaping services in Spitak, as well as street cleaning services in the Aravushogh community and provision of bins for the needs of the Great Parni community, came to an agreement with various entrepreneurs operating in the mentioned communities, as well as private individuals, during the years 2018-2019.

Without performing the work or providing the services stipulated in contracts, they fabricated false invoices and official documents that have legal significance and serve as proof of the supply of goods or services. By circulating these documents, they submitted them to authorized officials endowed with the power to approve payments of the amounts specified in the contracts, thereby fraudulently obtaining approximately 6.9 million drams for work that was not actually performed or services that were not rendered.

A criminal case has been initiated on the apparent instances of crime. Measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances surrounding the case. The investigation is ongoing.
