New Controversy Erupts in Nubarashen Penitentiary

According to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd", the issue of renovations in the visiting areas of Nubarashen penitentiary has reached law enforcement authorities. It became known to "Zhoghovurd" that a criminal case has been initiated at the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia based on the publication of September 13.

Specifically, we reported that a new uproar is emerging in Nubarashen penitentiary. According to information circulating in the prison, the visiting rooms, renovated years ago, were actually restored by the local authority Harutun Arakelyan, known as Hamik, who was murdered last month in the vicinity of the "Don Quixote" restaurant.

It was noted that Arakelyan renovated these rooms for his friend, the criminal authority Nerses Melkonyan, who is serving a sentence in Nubarashen penitentiary. However, it has now come to light that the prison leadership or the penitentiary service received funds from the state budget for the renovations and the installation of European windows.
