Grigoryan's Health Deteriorating Daily According to Defense

The trial regarding the criminal case against former President of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union, Manvel Grigoryan, concerning Nazik Amiryan, was postponed again today as the defendant Manvel Grigoryan was not present at the hearing. A notification was received from the 'Nairi' Medical Center, stating that the defendant could not be transported to the court due to health issues.

Additionally, the defense presented a document in French detailing the results of a medical examination. Defense attorney Levon Baghdasaryan made a statement: 'Is the court aware that Manvel Grigoryan's health is visibly deteriorating on a daily basis? He experiences complete numbness in his legs and arms. While in custody, he receives several kilograms of medication daily, his digestive organs are suppressed, and he is under anesthesia. The court is subjecting him to total torture; although his diabetes and cancer are in a phase of compensation, secondary illnesses have emerged. His entire body is swollen, the swelling has reached his vocal cords. He is unable to speak. Manvel Grigoryan is no longer the same person who last appeared in court. We have more than ten medical documents in our possession. We consider the maintenance of his detention to be illegal and a form of torture against him. We attribute the further deterioration of Grigoryan's health to the court's responsibility and request that the detention be changed to bail with the amount set at 5 million drams,' the defense team stated.

State prosecutor Vahe Dolmazyan also noted that Manvel Grigoryan is receiving treatment at one of the best medical institutions in Armenia, he is monitored by doctors 24 hours a day, and there is no medical justification indicating that his detention hampers his treatment.

The court retired to the consultation room to make a decision. The ruling on changing Manvel Grigoryan's preventive measure will be announced at 13:30.
