Nikol, Don’t You See That Makunts and Vitali Balasanyan Are Saying the Same Thing? - Syuzanna Simonyan
The former press secretary of the National Assembly, and president of the NGO ‘Women for Democracy’ Syuzanna Simonyan wrote on her Facebook page: “Culture is within you, the National Assembly is within you, and now is Artsakh also within you, self-styled Makunts? You occupy that chair solely because you are Nikol’s English teacher, remember that well. Who are you, what have you done for this country, who knew you before you took that seat, that you presume to speak on behalf of the thousands of martyrs, disregarding their blood and in our name? Did you ask us before making that statement, did you consult the thousands of mourners before daring to restrict their rights? Artsakh is soaked with the blood of our children, brothers, and fathers. Artsakh is soaked with the sweat and suffering of the Armenian people. We have suffered for thirty years, lived in poverty, we have not eaten, we have not drunk to have Artsakh, and today a two-bit character dares to drive a wedge between Armenia and Artsakh? Soft lady, have you ever shed a drop of blood or sweat for Artsakh, have you ever put yourself in danger for the sake of saving Artsakh? Who are you to make such a statement? Have you ever thought about what will remain of you when they take that chair away, and how you will be remembered by the people? You will be erased from memory instantly. Be a little modest, and moderate your statements as a person who has done nothing for Artsakh and earned no rights. You are neither Arpine nor Ashotyan to us.
Now, I address the Prime Minister:
Nikol, don’t you see that Lilith Makunts and Vitali Balasanyan are saying the same thing? That Artsakh is a separate state and Armenia should not interfere in its internal affairs. What should we understand now, is that also your real stance, or does your right hand not know what your left hand is doing?”
